IRS statistics through April 17 show $296.067 billion refunded, up 17.0% from $253.116 billion at the comparable 2025 point. The Congressional Budget Office says the 2025 reconciliation act increased household refunds. The headline Trump reposted attributed the figure to GAO, but the primary 17% statistic is IRS data; the verdict targets the measurable refund increase and the law's documented effect.
A February Coast Guard release confirms that contracts for 11 cutters had been awarded, completing the president's initial order. The first delivery is expected in 2028, so the evidence supports contracted procurement, not possession of 11 finished ships.
Axios reported on August 16, citing three sources with direct knowledge including a White House official, that the administration used Iraqi Kurdistan President Nechirvan Barzani to exchange messages directly with IRGC commander Ahmad Vahidi in May. That independent, detailed account supports the core proposition Trump conveyed to Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst; it does not establish that the channel remained active on August 17.
The Associated Press reports that the Lincoln had already exceeded 240 consecutive days at sea, setting the record for a U.S. aircraft carrier. That directly contradicts the normalized comparison Trump offered while discussing the carrier; unrelated deployments by other types of ships are not evidence for the carrier claim.
Some Navy officials dispute characterizations of a crisis, but documented facts make the blanket dismissal misleading: the carrier's uninterrupted time at sea is record-setting, a sailor went overboard and was medically evacuated, and families described food, mail and mental-health concerns.
