The National September 11 Memorial & Museum records 2,977 victims in the 2001 attacks, excluding the 19 hijackers. Trump's rounded 'nearly 3,000' description is accurate.

Recovery crews worked at Ground Zero for about nine months.
The World Trade Center recovery operation formally concluded on May 30, 2002, about eight and a half months after September 11, 2001. The memorial museum's contemporary release describes the effort as lasting nearly nine months, supporting Trump's rounded duration.
