What the evidence supports
All 251 people taken hostage in the October 7 attack, living or deceased, had been returned from Gaza.
Israel announced on January 26, 2026 that the remains of the final hostage, Ran Gvili, had been recovered. The Israel Defense Forces, Knesset and Associated Press all describe that return as completing the accounting for the 251 people taken on October 7. Trump's bounded all-hostages-back claim is supported; the verdict does not attribute the entire multilateral recovery effort to him alone.

The United States had put out the fire in Gaza and established peace there.
The October ceasefire ended major military operations and enabled the remaining hostage returns, giving the claim a real basis. But implementation had stalled, Israel still controlled roughly 60% of Gaza, and Israeli strikes continued to kill Palestinians while Israeli soldiers were also killed after the ceasefire.
